Some Cool Photos

Plenty of interesting photos of Asia and other countries abound on Ian's web page. He has documented the many places of his travels quite extensively. The night shots are great and the street level scenes are filled with colour and textures. You can almost smell the city. This shot of Moon Hill Village on a misty day is one of my favourites, a magical spot to do some sketching or whatever.

A Closer Look

inside my studio...

I'm working on a large abstract painting: an emotional outpourin/explosion which is rather exciting and cathartic. How are you?

The Studio at 60 Atlantic

This building is where I share a painting studio with Claude. It's rented by Artscape and subsidised by the city through TEDCO(owners) to keep the rents affordable for Fine Artists. Many Musicians and Visual Artists work here during the day and evening. I get there when I can. Recent developments in the area like Liberty Village and the Toy Factory Lofts have driven property values up. TEDCO has granted Artscape $110,000 to keep the building operating as per usual, but signs of change are around. We met with Artscape in February to discuss possibilities. One scenario could see a new building with commercially viable interests coexsisting with the cultural, built on the adjacent parking lot. There would be a little British style lane running between the buildings; with little cafe's , art galleries and music stores. Mostly we just want assurance that we will continue to have affordable spaces to work in with Artscape. In the time being I keep working and keep watching for what will pan out.

Hey This Place Looks Familiar

That is because this is where I live. There you can see Claude's car in the parking lot. Converting old buildings into lofts took off in cities such as New York and Chicago 50 years ago. Now the trend is taking off in Toronto and London. Apparently this building used to be a mattress factory. I guess you could call it the Mattress Factory Lofts. :)

Climate Change Information

As if there were those of you who didn't already know... "it is certain that as a result of modern human industrial behaviour, carbon dioxide in the earth’s atmosphere has increased to the point where the global carbon cycle has been altered." UNESCO's site is filled with vital information in regards to the state of our planet and the issues. Why not take some time and browse it?
