Children celebrate the Chinese New Year with traditional red silk outfits, leisee envelopes and decorating dragons. Cute eh?

hereandthere

A montage of pics converted to an animated gif. I had to reduce the number of colours for the effect.

Actually a few Sundays, maybe Tuesday and Friday as well. I used tape to create borders which merge with the various movements in this 54"x78" acrylic painting. Also several small pieces were created along the way.

I created this animated gif in painter to show the process of manipulating a photograph into a digital drawing. It may take a few moments to load on your browser. Some of the drawing information becomes obscured and obliterated entirely as I anticipate new moves before settling upon a final solution. In that aspect it is quite a bit similar to painting for me, just a whole lot faster with so many effects available in the tools.

It was a cloudy day...

Once I had a conversation with a curator who told me that great Canadian art was hued with grey. This photo collage should satisfy the agenda.

I spent my holiday hiking around on icy trails behind the arena. This one branch captures the sub-zero weather and spirit of the days.

Makes me buggy!

angus, originally uploaded by Tim Noonan.

I visited an interesting installation of thousands of insects with my friend Claude Breeze yesterday at the Textile Museum of Canada. The artist Jennifer Angus pins these bugs directly to the walls in intricate patterns. The exhibit is called "A Terrible Beauty". There are two more pictures on flickr.
