I have been working on a few underwater theme paintings. Abstract in technique and gesture, the effect is purposeful. The shapes appear mysterious yet familiar.

There is no reducing the use of green paint and sparkles on the art-flies here.

greenflies

They paint their flies after I explained about insects and mayflies. This picture reminds me of an exhibition that I saw at the craft council, that is with the insects facing in a circle pattern.

Poison Ivy Itchier

I've been wondering what it is that has been making my skin itchy recently. Since I haven't been to the woods i can cross out poison ivy as a culprit. This article although speculative upon higher co2 levels makes me wonder what is happening in normal non-poisonous plants or plants which cause mild reactions in allergic people? Like say a hive reaction to ragweed, or dandelion spores? Maybe increased co2 levels boost it's allergic producing properties... it gets the whole city itching, sneezing and whatever!

Android Teacher

She talks, but doesn't walk, at least not yet....It's only a matter of time! Fascinating.

I saw it on Friday.
4 out of 5, but I won't spoil.

humberbaybs

This is a parkette in the H.B.B.S.(HumberBay Butterfly Sanctuary) just along the west lakeshore cycle path towards Etobicoke. Odd that the only butterflies that I saw were renderings on an information plaque. Which reminds me of the $60.00 I paid for a Painted Lady butterfly kit in my classroom to which only 5 of 25 caterpillars have survived. However 2 are in chrysalis and I have my fingers crossed that healthy Painted Ladies soon emerge.

Somnium Orbis

It's a short surreal game. Figure out how to progress through each scene of the piece.

Dixie Chicks Country/Rock

These women just want to say it how they see it and they do. Recent negative attention the last few years has cost them some listeners and more. "Taking the Long Way Around" is a great new antiwar album.

Light Moving Backwards

This techno-physics experiment might be possible for Einstein to comprehend, and it could have far out effects for space travel.

Paintings Of Computer

The Macintosh seems to be a favorite subject for Indianapolis artist Gautam Rao.

Eva Hesse's Interesting Minimalism

A quick take on the sculptors life, philosophy and explorations of polymer materials, including a mini slide show. I like the 1967 piece titled "Schema".

Walmart Embraces Organic Agriculture

Sounds dubious indeed, but the largest grocery retailer in the U.S. plans to outsource the niche market for cheaper produce in your basket. I'm going to stick with no-frills though.

Solar Panels Take Off

In sunny California where else? Home developers incorporate expensive? solar panels into roofing materials.

You Should Be a Painter

You have the vision, patience, and skill to bring your unique visions to canvas.
And you're even tempered enough not to cut your ear off in the process!

This one also has a lot of drip action over and under the forms.

Apparently after falling out of a coconut tree while vacationing in Fiji,
Richards will not require surgery.

Pablo Linocuts

Each time That I see these linocuts I like them. Picasso was notorious for the vast quantity of prints that he created.

95 Million Picasso

Pablo Picasso's 1941 portrait of his mistress "Dora Maar au chat" sold for $95 million in an auction at Sotheby's. It's the second-highest price paid at auction for an artwork.

The translation loses a bit of the umph, but here are some thoughts on Art cars.

More Arty Vehicles

This site has a few neat links to check out, including Harold Blank's Camera Van.

And Gene Pool's Grass Bus. What fun!

BMW Art Cars

I was trying to locate Gene Pool's famous grass car when I found this site where Warhol, Hockney, Stella and others get their own BMW to jazz up. The image is Rauschenberg's BMW all painted up with images of trees and grass.
