Here is my 2nd 4'x8'. I had this one flat on the floor for a while in order to break the left to right gestures that I usually create. I think it also works vertically, but tough to photo in the studio light conditions.

blues
Keeping the spirit going during the Blues show on the fm channel. I kept some guitar shapes to match the riff lines.
221jazz
This is a great compliment to the previous jazz inspired image, imagine saxophones somewhere and you'll catch the groove.
saturdayafternoonjazz
This image was created while listening to my favorite radio station: Jazz FM. I think that music influences the process.

This vertical image reminds me of a giant walking across the land, looking down at rivers and stuff.

It's a busy time of year at school as the Holidays draw closer. The children love to work on mural paintings to decorate the classroom. It is interesting to watch them work together exploring the materials and techniques for a large picture. When completed it will be displayed on the door of the classroom.

A bit of that feeling in this image.

Abstracted to the nth degree with layers, this mark making captures a look which echoes some of happening 80's painters.

I used stand on the bridge above the falls and watch shapes in the foam. This image captures a bit of that feeling.

It may be easy to spot that this image has been built upon several layers. The new forms have only partially submerged the original foundation. Stimulating eh?

Petosky stones are a type of petrified coral found along beaches. I imagine the calcifying process taking thousands of years under the sea.

I worked on this image yesterday and today. It is dedicated to my painter/computer drawing pal(Eugene) who uses the same software. The darker mood is incidental, but I like it.

This digital drawing was rendered without the aid of photographic references, it is pure digital! Drawing on the computer allows me to develop ideas which could be suitable for canvas. This cool image was inspired by the paintings of the late Robert Matta .

Santa's castle at the Dufferin Mall all souped up by your friendly neighbourhood painterIX. Ho, Ho. Kids can get their photo with Santa taken in here. Tis the season to be surreal?

I created a collage like feel by superimposing shapes onto the image area. Some of the forms have a creature quality to them.

Robert Matta
Robert Matta was a Chilean surrealist painter. His career spanned most of the 20th century. I find his paintings to be tres cool as they evoke the "inner landscape". Three years after his passing, one of his masterpieces

The Popcorn Song
I found this one on the webjunkie,.. and I thought that the 70's group Hot Butter were the originators of the famous electronic popcorn popping tune. There are a ton of versions including a transcription for Nokia phones. Neato.

Radio Free Brooklyn
My curiosity about podcasting and itunes prompted me to investigate and I discovered these two guys who create a podcast in a bedroom. Ha, ha, I think this is a great concept, as for their taste in music; well...check it out!

This started out as nice photo of a yellow bench. Now it looks like anarchy unleashed,... but there are a lot of nice and subtle effects to see. If you look closely you might see a pattern or a ghost image.

I bet Andy Warhol would like this picture, flowers abound in the gardens! Now crop and silkscreen onto t-shirts!

I like this place, it is a nice cool spot to rest while cycling around High Park. The hanging flowers are very pretty, they add a colourful arrangement to this veranda.

This verticle acrylic painting is great because it reminds me of a snowstorm in the forest.

Riding around High Park, this bright orange snow fence stands out. They are working on a new path and planted dozens of sapplings. It reminds me of a Christo!

graffiti doors
I kept walking past on my way to the grocery store and I finally took a shot of these doors near the toy factory lofts. The original graffiti photo is buried under enhancements from a trial version of corel painter IX. The selection tool hosts a lasso which is good for working on masked areas. Also there is a texturizing feature as well as many other cool tools.
