This is my paint table at my studio. I just bought some new paint and brushes to be prepared for the summer painting series. Check out the large ceramic brush-vase crafted by Dieter. In the corner is my trusty Mac Cube.

This ambitious canvas keeps on evolving as I paint out areas, creating new layers upon layers. I bought some wide brushes(25cm) and I'm deciding whether or not I can use them to take this painting to an extreme. It is often interesting for the work to resolve spontaneously and not think to long about the next move.

communityhelpers

communityhelpers, originally uploaded by Tim Noonan.

The children traced around their figures with pencils onto kraft paper then coloured them in with pastels. They had to figure out what special clothes and tools were used by their chosen community helper characters. From left to right; letter carrier, firefighter, dancer, police officer, basketball player, musician, dentist, veterinarian, hockey player and yoga instructor. One technical note: getting the proper light and aperture setting for indoor school photos(depending on the camera) varies. I collaged these three pictures together to create the view of their artwork in the hallway.

Moose Rerun

Bring back the 90's man!
It seems like a blast from the past, yet it has been 10 years since this Big Magnetawan Moose was first exhibited in C1996. Now it is getting to see the light again. Earlier this evening I carried it on my head acrooss the railway tracks from my studio to Queen Street West. It will be on exhibit at 1112 Queen Street West( Engine Gallery Group Show) from June 29 - August 29, 2006. I hope that there is a good turn out for the opening reception on Thursday June 29, 7:00 - 10:00 pm and that my piece sells.

Paul Whittington's latest short. It's a bit longer than expected(10min) but the ending is worth it.

Currently under construction as a "condo conversion", this Church near High Park is really massive. I bet the expense to own in there is also massive.
Check out the bell tower pic on my flickr account.

The star-head at the yellow brick industrial buildings in the Morrow Avenue gallery complex looks out over the parking lot. Also the work of the late Roland Brener is on display at the Olga Korper Gallery. His work is quite funky and easy to read. There is an ok retrospective of Tom Hodgson's work at the Christopher Cutts Gallery.

The Canadian group FM reunited for a show at the La Hacienda on Friday night. It was good. They played most of the material from Black Noise and covered a few classics like Shapes of Things. They will be performing at a Prog-rock festival in Pennsylvania next week.

It was perfect weather for the zoo today. As usual the otters are extremely popular with the children and great for laughs.

Digital Dragonflies

These crazy pond dragonflies were drawn by me using Painter back in 2003. A 65" canvas in the works might include 1 or more of these darners, red darters and red veined darters. I'm pretty sure that they can fly backwards and they devour mosquitos. I was on a hunt to photograph some during the summer, but they are fast and mostly green. I might capture a photo this summer.

Shoes Relieve Knee Pain

I'm not usually prone to injuries or able to see myself needing orthopedic shoes but I had some trouble with my knee after boxfit class and the instructor recommended new shoes. Seems aerobic training puts tremendous strain on the shoes and they need replacing every 300- 500 miles, otherwise shins, knees and back begin to feel the pressure. Someone else recommended an orthopedic store and it's website. I found this great little sports shoe store inside 180 Bloor St. W. I checked the shop out yesterday evening settling upon a tougher pair of Brooks. So far so good, todays class went well and little pain on the knee as compared to last week.
