I was listening to some old Velvet Underground albums, you know with Lou Reed and I decided to do a little surfing. I came across this interesting explanation of Andy Warhol's multimedia art, whereby he coordinated simultaneous screenings of his films, live performances by the Velvet Underground, Poetry readings, Dance performances and effective lighting shows. I feel that the visual aspects of this multi screen art has roots in the cubist paintings of Picasso. It was a natural for Warhol to further experiment with layering sound to compliment and contrast the visuals. Modern absorptions of the E.P.I. experience and film are everywhere today: music videos, dance halls, advertising, television/video, stage performance, computer,...wherever there is a little Warhol in everything.
