Summer's End
I awoke this morning to grey damp weather instead of the usual bright sun. It dawned on me that summer is quickly ending. The days are shorter, cool nights, grey days, the signs are all around. The Ex is in full force and Labour Day weekend is but 5 days away. In a month's time leaves will be falling from trees. I miss the summer already. No more sleeping in or morning rides to the studio for coffees at Liberty Village. No more open rides to High Park or along the lake shore. No more casual strolls down Bloor street in the sunny afternoon. Tomorrow I begin the steady ttc treck back to school days by setting up my classroom. Then it's "what did you do in the summer?" a sure thing that it's done. Well outside of one trip to Ottawa, to the National Gallery and one one trip to Walmart in Massena, I have mostly chilled out here in Toronto and I still must get over to the AGO this week. I think that I worked on and completed 17 paintings(12 small) which is not too bad considering that my goal was 24 and technically there are still 5 days left. Claude has moved out of the studio and Steve is moving in by September, there's another sign! Between my friends I think I attended 8 barbeques, 2 dinners and went for coffees on Bloor Street twentyfive times. Today I'm over to my brother's for a steak barbeque, so that will make 9 now. I read several books on artists including Billie Holiday and also several fiction novels; currently Stephen Baxter/Arthur C.Clark "Time's Eye"(fitting isn't it). My entertaining consisted of having guests for wine and cheese at my loft on two occasions and one studio visit. Oh I almost forgot about my aqua-fitness and yoga classes at the Y on College Street, summer wouldn't be the same. Now I'm off to Yonge and Bloor for shopping! Oh the link is what came up on the title search. Happy September!
